Playing at Frontier Home

Booking

Frontier Home concerts take place in an outbuilding of my house, so we typically don’t do more than two concerts per month. One is more typical. While we can’t put on a lot of shows, we try to make the ones that do happen here really count. For better or for worse, selection is driven by personal taste. We mostly host traditional music from around the world with a focus on US western and southern music. We’ve also hosted modular synth nights and experimental music so if you’ve got something interesting, don’t hesitate to ask. Modern cover bands are typically the only thing we don’t host, and even then it might be worth asking if it’s something cool.

Happy to host pretty much any kind of workshop.

Capacity and Revenue

On a good night, the studio will be full with around 35 people. We typically ask audience members to contribute $20, though you’re free to set the price. Typically, we ask people to pay cash at the merch table or send payment directly to your Venmo or preferred payment platform. We have presold tickets for a small number of shows. If you’d prefer a ticket presale, please let us know. Most importantly, 100% of the show revenue goes to you. We don’t take a cut of the door, or merch sales.

Promotion

Shows are promoted on our own email list, and on our local arts council’s email list if the timing works out. We also post the show to various Facebook groups, depending on genre. We also generally budget for Facebook and other digital advertising, which has actually been great for bringing in fresh faces often unfamiliar with this kind of scene.

We very much encourage artists to promote the show as widely as possible. The venue address is all over the internet, so feel free to post info about the show as broadly as you’re able.

PA

My neighbors are lovely people and I try not to annoy them so all shows are acoustic. The room is very live and I’ve had several folks comment that it is one of their favorite sounding spaces.

Crashing

You are welcome to stay here. We have a guest room with a large comfy Aerobed and a pull out couch downstairs. One or two people can stay comfortably - after that we get into cots and sleeping in the studio. There’s a friendly dog and a hot tub.
